AFRICAN DRUM & DANCE RETREAT in SENEGAL - 7th to 27th Jan 2012
Join Senegalese Master Drummer Djibril Diagne for a 3-week African Drum & Dance Tour in his homeland. Instructors are all Senegalese world-class professionals experienced at teaching both Western and African pupils. Students will have the opportunity of learning Sabar and Djember drumming and/or dancing techniques.
Classes will run 5-days a week Mon-Fri with 2 drumming sessions and 2 dancing sessions of 1hr 1/2 each. Students can chose to only drum or dance, or a combination of both. Week-end excursions will be organised to visit Senegal's most popular touristic attractions including Lac Rose, Ile de Goree, and Dakar markets.
The retreat will take place in the beautiful location of 'The Ecole des Sables', in the fishing village of Toubab Dialaw, situated 55km from Dakar, with easy access to beaches and typical African savannah. Cooking is taken care of by Djiby's family so that students can discover authentic senegalese food.
